|Intro: Onix is a family. It really is. I’ve never seen a company in which every single person is actively engaged in promoting the company on social media. I’m the Marketing Director and even though I have a person responsible for social media, I know that I have 200 other “marketing team members” who have my back when it comes to promoting the company. This kind of engagement and enthusiasm can’t be manufactured. It’s really the organic product that comes from a culture unlike any I’ve ever seen.
Onix began in 1992 as networking software and hardware company. Always staying a step ahead of the competition and technology, Onix has evolved into a cloud computing and consulting service company that counts Google and Amazon as primary partners. In fact, Google named Onix its 2018 North American Partner of Year this past April.
Throughout its evolution, Onix has always focused on making a difference. And that’s why Onix is considered to be one of the places to work in Northeast Ohio.
Onix is where you go when you want to make a difference.
At Onix, employees are encouraged and empowered to try new things and share their learnings and experiences with the rest of the organization.
CEO and Founder Tim Needles has the ultimate “open door” policy and encourages employees to come to him with ideas they have for improving company performance.
Just this past year, a group of employees created a Salesforce task force focused on upgrading the licensing of the CRM system and bring in consultants to help us better leverage the platform and help us streamline our processes.
Team member satisfaction is managed by the individual departments through a variety of methods including surveys, one-on-one meetings, and open dialogue and feedback.
There are a lot of open spaces throughout our headquarters that are designed for innovation and collaboration. There are also a number of themed meeting spaces (“The Barn,” “The Gameroom,” “The Library” throughout the building. There also is an old fashioned ice cream parlor on the first floor and a game room/bar and gym in the basement. Plus, our location is in the heart of Lakewood and we are literally across the street from a number of excellent culinary options.
Creative meeting places:
- The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
- Progressive Field
- Cleveland Browns Stadium
- A Cruise on the San Francisco Bay
Onix has a gym in its basement, which is free for all employees to use. Season tickets to Cleveland Indians games are also available.
Employees can take breaks and lounge in the kitchen area or go down to the basement to “bowl”, shoot pool, play video games, air hockey or pop-a-shot.
There are also Friday after-work parties in the basement during the summer, cookouts, after-work gatherings at local taverns.
In addition, three stand-up comics, a number of musicians and a diverse group of people all work at Onix — creating an eclectic yet fun group of personalities and a really fun atmosphere.
How corporate vision is communicated:
Our executive team determines corporate vision, which is communicated directly by CEO and Founder Tim Needles, as well as by the management team to its direct reports.
Onix team members are routinely recognized during their departmental meetings, company-wide gatherings and periodic emails celebrating key sales, projects and events. Annual awards are also given out to high-performers.
As mentioned earlier, employees are encouraged and empowered to try new things and share their learnings and experiences with the rest of the organization. CEO and Founder Tim Needles has the ultimate “open door” policy and encourages employees to come to him with ideas they have for improving company performance.
