Over the past three years, Brightpoint Infotech has experienced a ten-fold growth rate and has established a global presence with a diverse workforce in 6 countries consisting of individuals from different cultures, ethnicities, and language backgrounds. Recognizing the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), we made it a priority to create a fully integrated DEI plan that aligns with our business strategy, rather than just treating it as an “add-on” function managed by HR in isolation.

Our goal is to foster a safe and inclusive environment where all team members are treated fairly and given equal access to opportunities, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, and other factors. We have made DEI a key driver of innovation and ensure that everyone feels like a part of the Brightpoint Family, starting right from the hiring process, throughout the day-to-day life of our team members.

We regularly hold monthly meetings, including dedicated sessions for women focused on wellness and work-life balance, where team members are encouraged to highlight their skills and ideas in various areas, work and personal life included. Through these initiatives, we create a sense of security and trust among team members, resulting in a healthy work environment, increased customer satisfaction, and significant personal and professional growth.

Today, we are a team of over 100 members serving clients in the USA, Canada, UAE, Africa, and India. As one of Microsoft’s most trusted Gold Partners globally, we have successfully executed complex multi-million-dollar ERP, production, and supply chain implementation and integration projects, helping our customers significantly by implementing industry best practices and optimized processes. We continue to innovate, design, and implement industry-specific solutions tailored to our customers’ needs, while also providing the best training to our team.

Does your company offer training for current managers to ensure they are employing inclusionary hiring practices, and are they held accountable for doing so?

Yes, we do have training sessions for managers to help them implement and maintain inclusionary hiring practices. These training programs cover a range of topics, including identifying and overcoming unconscious biases, conducting effective job interviews, and creating a workplace culture that values diversity and inclusion.

We also hold Managers accountable for their hiring practices by setting diversity and inclusion goals, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations, and tying compensation and promotion decisions to their success in building diverse and inclusive teams.

Explain how your diversity programs have evolved over time?

In recent years, we have shifted towards a more comprehensive approach, which focuses on creating a more inclusive culture that values and celebrates diversity. Inclusion is the key component of modern diversity programs.

We have successfully designed a DEI program that fosters a sense of belonging among all our team members, regardless of their background or identity. We also celebrate cultural events like, Easter, Christmas, Diwali and Eid.

Please detail the success of your diversity programs? Include statistics supporting an increase in hiring or promotions of those in under represented communities in your response.

Our DEI initiative provides numerous benefits to our team, including improved financial performance, quality of work, innovation and growth, increased employee engagement, better communication and collaboration, and more effective decision-making. It has also helped us attract and retain top talent and foster a culture of belonging where all employees feel like a part of one family – the Brightpoint family.

How do you measure the success of your diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives?

Measuring the success of DEI initiatives can be challenging, what we do on a quarterly basis is that we do anonymous surveys to gather feedback from employees. This helps us understand their experiences and perceptions regarding DEI initiatives. These surveys cover a variety of topics such as workplace culture, inclusion, and equity.

We also recognize the unique challenges faced by remote workers and have established a support and mentorship program to help improve communication and social skills, especially for introverted employees who may struggle on group video calls.

Specifically when it comes to people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, veterans, the disabled, and members of other social identity groups, what specific steps have you taken to encourage applicants from these communities to seek employment with your company?

We partner with organizations that support underrepresented communities and attend job fairs and conferences that cater to diverse audiences. This helps us attract applicants from diverse backgrounds who may not have heard of the company otherwise. We use inclusive language in job listings and post them on job portals that are popular within diverse communities. We also encourage our Team to refer candidates from underrepresented communities. We provide diversity, equity, and inclusion training to hiring managers and employees. This can help create a more inclusive culture and reduce bias in the hiring process.

What steps are you taking to ensure representation of under-represented groups in management and board-level positions?

We provide leadership development programs and mentorship opportunities for employees from underrepresented communities. This helps them build the skills and experience needed to be successful in management and board-level positions.

Do you have any initiatives to give back to underprovided communities? What about other minority groups?

We actively support social causes and development efforts, such as education for the underprivileged, marathons for supporting girl child education in India, and participation in blood donation and hunger eradication campaigns.

Are there other initiatives your organization supports to help equip people in disadvantaged communities to better compete for tech-related careers?

We offer Scholarship and Internship Programs for students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in pursuing tech-related careers.

What specific plans are in place at your organization to help you become even more diverse in the future?

Our DEI program is fully integrated and aligns with our business strategy. We regularly monitor and evaluate diversity metrics to assess the effectiveness of their diversity and inclusion efforts. There is always room for improvement, and we keep fine tuning based on the surveys and feedback we get from our team.
