Vonage posts all open positions internally for two weeks prior to recruiting externally, giving our current employees the opportunity grow in their careers.
Training opportunities:
Each new hire goes through an orientation on their first day. Additional training is conducted by each specific department within the organization. For example, our sales new hires participate in Fast Start which is a weeklong training at our headquarters where the new hires learn selling techniques, get a deep dive into our products, and meet the teams with which they will be working.
Medical benefits:
Vonage offers three different medical plans, two dental plans, and two vision plans which allowing for flexibility depending on each employee’s unique situation.
Community service/charitable causes:
“Do the Right Thing” is one of Vonage’s core values and is put into action daily not only in how employees interact with each other and with customers, but also through the dedication each individual shows to being a good corporate citizen and giving back to people in the communities where we live and work. Vonage has an established volunteer program which gives all employees the ability to take up to three days, with pay, to use for community service within our communities. The Company not only organizes the events (and accepts suggestions from employees), but also provides lunch, transportation and any supplies (work gloves, masks, etc.) needed. Additionally, groups within the Company (Human Resources, Customer Care, etc.) are able to volunteer as a team building activities. Vonage also organizes open events, where people from across the company can meet up with each other outside of work and network. Vonage is also dedicated to philanthropy, donating the use of its facilities to outside organizations for charitable use.
Measuring satisfaction:
Vonage regularly surveys employees to evaluate how they felt about meetings or changes in the Company. Employees are also always encouraged to talk to their managers or directors regarding job satisfaction.
Creative meeting places:
In the Holmdel, NJ headquarters, Vonage has various department “pods” that are modeled after different local attractions, such as New Jersey colleges and universities that feature unique conference rooms, including one that is a replica of a dorm room, one modeled after a college library and others named for each school. Additionally, teams have had meetings in the building courtyard, while riding bikes that are part of the Company bike program, and while walking around the campus track.

Fun:
There is a game room where employees can take a break and relax. The Vonage Bike Program provides bicycles for employees to ride around campus, and the Holmdel campus has volleyball courts, a baseball field, tennis courts, basketball courts. There is also a Vonage softball league in which many employees participate. One office also has a golf simulator on site for employees to use. On Friday’s there is a happy hour for all employees to get together after a long week of hard work.
Collaboration tools:
Vonage use Lync to keep in contact with, and communicate with our teams. Additionally, Vonage has “gone Google” and utilizes Google for Work to foster collaboration among different teams working on the same project.
How corporate vision is communicated:
The corporate vision is led by Vonage’s CEO and communicated to the entire organization through quarterly All Hands meetings, as well as through emails and videos. At All Hands Meetings, our CEO welcomes questions from all employees and takes time to answer each question that comes either in-person or via text message from other offices.
Empowering employees:
Vonage fosters innovation and wants all employees to be creative and make decisions. The Company fosters “intrapreneurship” among employees, providing them with the encouragement and resources they need to pursue new ideas.
Opportunities are offered for employees to go above and beyond. For example, one of our offices created a voluntary Culture Team to identify ideas to keep the office motivated and excited to come to work every day while living the company’s core values. The team decided to participate in one service event per quarter to put our core value of “Do the Right Thing” into action. The team meets every two weeks to keep the ideas flowing and to ensure the office is adhering to our value of “One Vonage, Indivisible.”
Vonage participates in annual performance reviews where managers can recognize employees for their hard work. When an employee gets promoted, an email goes out within each department announcing the promotion. When an employee is receives an honor or award for their work, either internally or externally, an email is sent companywide.
Vonage takes advantage of a collaborative, open work environment, with all employees in cubicles. There are open collaboration areas in which to work, and each of our conference rooms has a different theme and is decorated with paint and posters to fit that theme. Employees can sit in the one that is most comfortable for them. Vonage also has “phone booths” around the office where employees can take personal calls or work alone for a period of time. Each of our conference rooms has several different lighting options and black out shades to accommodate different presentations. Vonage’s training facility is stocked with flip charts, markers, white boards, and presentation materials to accommodate any type of training.
One of Vonage’s core values is to “Innovate Relentlessly.” Employees are given the chance to affect change through hackathons, innovation challenges, our Vonage Garage program, as well as a newly created Kickbox program, where they are given resources to become “intrapreneurs.” The technology world is constantly changing and evolving and Vonage recognizes that our most valuable assets to lead this change are our employees.
Ensuring well-being:
The Company offers several wellness programs to employees. These programs include free yearly flu shots at all offices, subsided Weight Watchers memberships with onsite meetings, free onsite gyms, chair massages, multiple medical, dental, and vision plans, access to an Employee Assistance Program, short-term and long-term disability, and promoting work/life balance.
Vonage offers six paid holidays, vacation/sick time varying in amount based on tenure, bereavement leave and flexible schedules. The Company participates in a Take Your Kid to Work Day, holds annual company picnics and happy hours, holiday parties, and more. Vonage strives to provide an environment and atmosphere that are engaging and welcoming for employees and their families.
Full time employees are required to work 40 hours, with hourly employees clocking in and out to log their time. Salaried employees work with their manager to establish a schedule that best fits their needs.
If there are special circumstances, employees are able to request a different schedule from their managers. It is at the manager’s discretion to establish what is best for the team. Vonage’s FDO (Flexible Day Off) policy varies by tenure. Employees with three years or less with the Company receive 17 days. 3-5 years receives 22 days and 5+ years receives 27 days. Sick and vacation hours come out of the same FDO bucket. After an employee has hit their 5 year anniversary, they also receive an additional 2 weeks of vacation that they must use that year.

Vonage has offices across the U.S., as well as international locations, and each plays an important role in ensuring that all customers are satisfied customers. When onboarding new acquisitions, there is always change and integration. Everyone in the Company plays an important role in ensuring that the new acquisition is seamless with integrating systems, managers taking on additional employees, and communicating any changes.
