Impact statements:
|
Community service/charitable causes:
Yes we believe in ‘giving back’ – we are involved in numerous events within the community all year long. During Thanksgiving we do a turkey trot, to support the local homeless, via fundraising and donations. We regularly do a food drive through Food Harvest. We have hired individuals to help with our philanthropy we are growing in that area. Some members have done the Santa run – book drive for children. We promote employees interest in charity work.
Measuring satisfaction:
With an Open Office environment, we strongly encourage employees to share ideas and our entire team pays attention to individual strengths. We are very inclusive of every employee at every event –we hold weekly all-hands meetings to share information. We are committed to fostering an environment of professional learning and growth as professionals and as individuals.
We are a young company and have not implemented anything like this yet, but would if feel it is a good idea as we continue to grow. We invite comments, complaints, positive feedback, ideas, 24×7 from all employees.
Creative meeting places:
We have an open room with a ping pong table – some people bring their dogs – we have had meetings over the ping pong table, while walking, biking – taking the dogs outside. We’ve had meetings in the middle of the aisle. And many great ideas have emerged in our well stocked kitchen.
Perks:
Of course we have a ‘kitchen/café area’ with daily coffee, tea, bagels. With our all-hands meetings weekly we have other food to share. One of the most unique items we offer is a very special ‘All about Me’ event starting in November. Each year all employees are given the opportunity to spend $200 on themselves or what they believe in, but they have to share w/the whole company – we are building an album for internal – sharing and commenting. This has been a great tool for us to get to know each other and our interests better outside of work. We will be building on memberships locally, as we continue to grow.
Fun:
We have done a lot of fun events! We have provided cooking classes, indoor soccer, cricket outing, baseball outing, a bike ride, participate in a 5K – everyone can drive the culture – we are always open to adding more and more all the time. It keeps everyone involved at another level, and creates a family environment and good health as well.
How corporate vision is communicated:
Within the first month of a new hire – the CEO talks through how important it is to take risks, try something new – encourages open ideas, new ideas. The CEO empowers anyone and everyone, to be open with their individual ideas, and pushes for communication and collaboration among all. Everyone is excited when another person is recognized – we promote and encourage equality.
With multiple departments as with any typical company – marketing, sales, HR, etc. – we share information all the time as to what is going on within each department – and with the weekly meetings, everyone in working toward the same end goal.
Empowering employees:
We have a completely open environment – there is no tiered hierarchy – we believe in a ‘flat organization’ – open cubicles and an open door policy. In fact there are no doors!
Again, with our CEO coffee/tea every week, we share information from the top down and encourage the open lines of communication, where everyone participates. The weekly meeting brings up shared visions – drilling down to each department.
With our open office environment, anyone can talk with the CEO or other key management, at any time. We offer a welcome/coffee with the CEO – we invite folks in to share their own vision, encourage each other – it make for a great dialogue – There is a lot of energy and we promote ‘fun’ with ping pong tables and people can bring their animals to work. We fully believe in working better together. We believe that an open and fun culture removes inhibitions and allows individuals to share ideas for positive change and improvements in all areas.
Ensuring well-being:
With a regular ‘walk and talk’ right in office, we don’t expect our employees to sit all day! We encourage walking within or outside the office, many of our folks exercise during lunch; We support outdoor participation in events – we have many staff involved in local area 5K events. We have a ‘fun’ area with a ping pong table, and a wonderful outside area. Our employees can ask for standing desks if they want and if it better suits their health needs.
We provide discretionary time off – managers of time off – any reason. Employees are encouraged to bring families into the office. Kids are encouraged to come in. We encourage and support exercise, good food, fun, activities, community and ideas.
We have a flexible schedule for all. There is no ‘published’ strict work hours and we don’t have a handbook.
Yes many team members do make up their own work schedules. In addition to full time staff, we have a number of part time and contractor employees that bring great value to our company. We have a discretionary time for everyone and insist on individuals taking care of themselves, we offer a unique ‘Rest and Relaxation’ time for everyone.
Longevity:
The company was founded in 2012 – and has grown exponentially annually, since – we hire on a regular basis and have minimal turnover. We just announced $35M in funding 3/2/2017 in our Series D, due to the tremendous global growth. We keep people because we are a dynamic, fast growing exciting company. We promote a fun INCLUSIVE close knit environment, and the support and open communication environment. We are in a hiring phase! Our employee turnover is very, very low.
Closing company statements: From everything we’ve listed above we would simply need to bring that individual to our corporate office and they would literally ‘feel’ the energy, the excitement the happy employees. Many of our hires are through employee references and our employees convey what a great culture and fun work environment we provide. With the entire company working together for the end goal of success, it does not take long for prospective candidates to join VeloCloud! |
