Fun:

Our Culture channel on Slack is an always present space for employees to chat, and share and their interests. Our A-team committee uses the channel to conduct games like Bingo, and holiday festivities. We also use outside services from time to time for team games and bonding exercises.

Communication and Collaboration Tools:

We have two critical collaboration platforms. The first is our own Phone.com video meeting service, which allows our team members to chat, meet, and present on demand. The service allows file and screen sharing, and it automatically generates transcripts and meeting summaries. Although we are rarely in the same building, our video service allows us to develop meaningful personal relationships.

The other critical platform is Slack, which allows for asynchronous communication with individuals or groups throughout the day. Slack allows for company communication that reaches every person and makes it easy for everyone to contribute.

Our detailed onboarding process includes providing each employee with the technology they need for effective remote work. We also reimburse employees for Internet and mobile phone costs when appropriate. In addition, our always-on IT help desk ensures that technical or equipment issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.

How corporate vision is communicated:

Our goal is to weave the corporate vision into communications at many levels. New employees are presented with the corporate vision during the onboarding process. Our executive team shares information aligning day-to-day activities with our vision in monthly recaps. In addition, we hold quarterly town hall events in which our leaders share the successes and plans of each function with respect to our mission of meeting the communication needs of small businesses.

Empowering employees:

Our ASPIRE recognition program recognizes and rewards employees who demonstrate our values of Authenticity, Service, Passion, Innovation, Respect, and Empathy. Every day, employees are encouraged to use the ASPIRE Slack channel to recognize their employees who have practiced ASPIRE behaviors. In this way, peers encourage each other to live our values. Each quarter, we recognize six individuals who have consistently gone above and beyond to aspire to be part of a company we love.

Each ASPIRE winner is given a badge that they can use in their email signatures and social media profiles to recognize their achievement we also reward their excellent work with a gift card.

Every Phone.com employee is encouraged to pursue opportunities for improvement within their team, department, or the overall organization. Our roundtable discussions provide a platform for discussion on a wide range of topics. Leaders are trained to maintain open lines of communication in team meetings and during one-on-one employee sessions.

We encourage reasonable risk-taking and experimentation. We also believe in removing layered approval where possible and aim to allow employee autonomy to the greatest extent possible without compromising operations or our mission.

Ensuring well-being:

Employee paid time off for personal time and vacation (PTO) is intended as a break from work, a time for our team members to rest and renew themselves so that they remain happy, healthy, and productive on the job.
